Ulaanbaatar, September 20, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa is participating in the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) at UN Headquarters in New York.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa upon his arrival at UN headquarters.
President Khurelsukh attended the Opening Ceremony of the General Debate of the 78th Session of the UNGA, which brought together over 100 heads of the state. The President of Mongolia Khurelsukh will address the General Debate, expressing Mongolia’s position on emerging issues in international relations.
The 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, under the general theme of “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress, and sustainability for all,” will feature several high-level meetings, including the SDG Summit, the High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development, the Climate Ambition Summit, the High-level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Summit of the Future, the High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage, and the High-level Meeting on the Fight against Tuberculosis.
Government officials of Mongolia led by Foreign Minister B. Battsetseg are participating the Session events. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia Ch. Khurelbaatar is attending the SDG Summit and High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development.
Mongolia joined the United Nations as the 101st member on October 27, 1961. Since then, Mongolia has actively participated in regular and special sessions of the UNGA, as well as high-level meetings, conferences, and events at the head of state and government level.
