It is said that a healthy person is the happiest person. But when we want to live happily, we eat wrong. The desire to have wealth is lazy. Wishing for the best future for their children, they do not pay attention to the food they eat. The stomach is not a garbage can, so every food we eat affects our health and beauty. It also reduces the productivity of children’s learning and adults’ work…
“Every year, more than 600 million people (one in 10 people in the world) get sick and 420,000 people die due to the consumption of food contaminated with bacteria, viruses, parasites, and toxic chemicals. In low- and middle-income countries, unsafe food costs $110 billion annually in lost productivity and medical costs. Children under the age of 5 are responsible for 40% of foodborne illnesses and 125,000 child deaths each year. According to the WHO study, foodborne diseases are straining the health system, adversely affecting the country’s economy, tourism, and trade, and hindering social and economic development. Therefore, the number of countries paying attention to food safety is increasing year by year. Also, in recent years, 829 million people have suffered from hunger due to the outbreak of epidemics and the escalation of geopolitical problems in countries.
On May 13, 2022, the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagi Khurelsukh announced the initiation of the “Food Supply and Security” national movement on the platform of the State Ikh Khur Assembly. In this way, we started a “Food Revolution” in our country and became a healthy and happy nation.
In this context, the State Great Khural approved Resolution No. 36 “On some measures to be taken to ensure food supply and security”, and a total of 1.7 trillion MNT will be budgeted. This is an important event and a historic decision that will affect national security.
Because dangerous foods containing harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites, and chemicals can cause more than 200 diseases, from diarrhea to cancer. It particularly affects infants, young children, the elderly and the sick, creating a vicious cycle of disease and malnutrition.
Ensuring food supply and security is not the sole responsibility of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, or a single government. It is the collective responsibility of policy makers, law and legal framework makers, organizations at all levels of government, all sectors, producers and consumers. Therefore, the Office of Food Projects and Programs of the President’s Office, which is responsible for the activities of the national movement “Food Supply and Security”, has presented the presentation of measures to implement Parliament’s Resolution 36 to more than 20 cooperating government organizations.
The office is headed by Ch. Davaabayar, Advisor to the Industry and Services Policy of the President of Mongolia.

- O. Damdindulam, Food Project and Program Officer
- R. Budmaa, Foreign Relations Specialist of the Food Projects and Programs Department

It consists of a total of 5 goals, 42 action areas, and 114 implementation measures.
Whether or not the fire of the “food revolution” will continue depends on our unity and cooperation

He also expressed that he will support and give special importance to the national movement “Food Supply and Security” for the healthy and happy future of every Mongolian. In this way, Mongolia has officially joined and started to take the lead in the “Food Revolution” that is taking place unofficially around the world.
In the future, the series of meetings with non-governmental organizations, manufacturers, and international organizations will continue. We Mongolians are a nation that can do anything if we can unite. Therefore, whether or not the fire of the “Food Revolution” will continue depends on our unity and cooperation.
