The teachers, staffs, and students of the Fifth School in Bayankhongor province now have the opportunity to enjoy nutritious vegetables cultivated by their own efforts for their lunchtime meals.
Under the collaborative efforts of the Bayankhongor Sum Governor’s Office, Taiwan Child and Family Support Foundation, and Family Farming Business Development NGO, a 50-square-meter three-season greenhouse has been constructed adjacent to the Fifth School as part of the “Healthy Food “Healthy Future-2” initiative.
As a result, the teachers and staffs took the initiative to construct their own greenhouses and took charge of seed preparation, planting various crops such as potatoes, carrots, cabbage, yucca, beetroot, and onions in their outdoor field. Additionally, a cellar capable of storing up to 20 tons of harvested vegetables throughout any season has been fully constructed and is now operational.
Furthermore, an irrigation system has been installed in the school yard to facilitate the planting of over 500 trees of three different species, namely brown willow, white willow, and elm.
